If you're going to quote me like that, post the entire quote. Yes, Ford put it in their cars. That's all they did. I'm trying to say this isn't a problem specifically with Ford, it's the DCT design in general. Don't twist my words. Ford didn't design or invent the DCT.

Exactly. If you want a bad tranny, buy a VW. Holy crap those were horrible. They had soo many problems that some people would have to wait MONTHS before even getting it fixed. The part needed to fix mine took almost 3 months to get in and get fixed. And that was only one of the problems I had with it. So effing glad that car was totaled

Be gracious Fords Getrag's DCT isn't that bad.

Lamborghini has the same low speed issues with it. Seems to be a design quirk like slow response and buzzy engines during heavy acceleration in the cvt.

Most of the E-Gear units were single clutch manuals though, not the dual clutch. It's harder to make it work right with a single clutch allegedly.

I did not quote his entire post, but I didn't twist anything either. I could care less if other manufacturers have problems with their dual clutch transmissions or not. I bought a FORD focus and I hold Ford accountable for its quality. That is the only vehicle that matters just now and it has been something of a hot mess. Doesn't make my life any easier if somebody in a vw is having problems too.

Im not saying other car companies problems should matter to you. My point is simply that there is clearly a design flaw or something wrong with DCT's in general, regardless of who makes it. Yes, Ford put it in the car. But DCT problems are hardly anything new and aren't exactly hidden. A quick google search shows the problems. A little research before dropping $20K-$30K goes a long way.

If you want to be pissed at Ford, be pissed for what they're doing with the MFT. Now many of us have 2 useless favorite buttons on our steering wheels that we were sold saying they're programmable, and now they're essentially useless

yeah sucks other companies are having problems too, but that doesn't really matter to us lol.

I'm just thankful mine is running good *knocksonwood* my buddy just picked up a 2011 gti with the dsg and with 20k its also running good. Kind of hard to tell whats a "problem" and whats natural with the dct in the focus though. A little clunk from low speed first to second doesn't make it a "bad tranny", though people claim the sky's falling after that.

Trust me, when the dct in the focus goes bad, you will know it. There is a difference between the occasional slight shudder that is characteristic of DCTs and the constant violent lurching and grinding and rattling of one that is broken.
