I was driving and shifted into second at 6k rpms and a puff of blue smoke appeared behind me. The car still runs/drives as normal. WTF did I break!?!?!?!?

Yea that's what I would say. I had an oil leak one time in my escape and the car puffed a cloud of blue smoke when I started it at one point.

no joy in blue smoke

Blue smoke at high rpm, I would say a little blow by from the piston rings.

One time occurrence or can you reproduce at will?

Now if our cars were turbo'd and it was constant smoke, I'd give him a different (not so good) diagnosis. Blown turbos are no fun.

Good question. Hopefully it's a one time thing for the OPs sake.

i've always had blue smoke on start up or first hard rev.. i have posted a youtube video on it a while back. dealer didnt do anything about it. i got good compression. i just decided on my last oil change to run a can of restore and 0w20 reduced my blue smoke but i still get the occasional puff doing a 2nd gear pull to 6Kr rpm.

ive assumed normal blow by.

If it's inconsistent and you're not consuming an unusual amount of oil, I wouldn't get too concerned about it.

Yeah If you aren't burning oil, are you running some sort of weird injector cleaner or something? I dont think I seen any smoke but I ran some gum out a while ago and it made my tail pipe smell like death
