Confused the heck out of my DCT today....

I was turning right out of a side street and blipped the gas so I could see any cars coming, then hit the brake. I immediate then hit the gas cause I was indecisive on going or not, but it looked like the on coming car was going a lot faster than the speed limit, and I didn't want to get hit. So the car revved up to like 4 or 5 grand (wasn't watching but heard it) before the clutch re-engaged. It bit hard, whole car shook and the tires spun for at least 3 - 4 seconds while squealing. I was worried I may have messed something up.....felt I was dropping the clutch in my old stang.

But the DCT is still smooth as butter.

Isn't there a safety feature on the focus that's similar to launch control? I mean, it behaves similar to a launch control?

I'm not sure, but I think I remember hearing something about it... I could be wrong...

EDIT: there is launch control!

This is the thread that talks about it...

http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=259249

Could it be that you inadvertently got into that launch control and then cancelled it by hitting brake again?

EDIT: (again) sounds like you didn't cancel it out, but enjoyed the ride!

Did you hit the brakes hard? I found this situation easily repeatable with any hard brake application then immediate acceleration....like avoiding an animal or something. I didn't consider that a real problem though, just a software quirk. Not a problem like significant/prolonged grinding, inability to drive up any significant incline without shaking your teeth out (if from a stop), or clutches seemingly slipping if your already moving a good clip (RPM climbs, speed falls, with NO gear change), etc.

Anyhow, no longer a problem for me! My 700R4 really is smooth as butter compared to that thing.
