2.0L 4-cyl Engine Code [3] OR [P] WTF?

Hey, I am trying to order fluids through Amsoil and for my Ford Focus ZX3 year 2000, they give me the choice of two engine types. Either:

2.0L 4-cyl Engine Code [3]

or..

2.0L 4-cyl Engine Code [P]

I checked how much oil is called for the 2.0L 4-cyl Engine Code [3] engine and it said 4.6 quarts, but my manual says 4.5 quarts.

For the [P] version it calls for 4.2 quarts of oil.

Anyone... have any idea... where to find which engine mine is in these terms? I know its a zetec 2.0 DOHC but can't find the reference to [3] or [P] anywhere.

Thanks!

The 8th number in your VIN is the engine size. IIRC, "3" is a zetec, so the "P" should be an SPI.

I swear by Amsoil. I run it in my Mazda Protege, Subaru WRX and Kawasaki Ninja 650.

As often as he wants to afford it.

You do realize that's oil pan fill, not the total oil for the engine. For those who are worried about the slightest overfill, you should fill up to 4.5, allow the engine to run, wait a few mins, and fill to the full mark on the dipstick with the vehicle on level ground.

If you're like me (160k miles, owned since 5 miles), and know it's not a big deal, just put 5 in and be done with it.

Amsoil is not going to stop the engine from dropping valveseat as so many of them do....................waste of money in this case.

The OP has a Zetec, not SPI.
