hatch third brake lamp fracturing

A small piece of my high mount stop light came off as fractures got bigger along the spray nozzle on rear hatch.

I took it off I noticed small fractures along the screw holes too.

I'm gluing it up the best I can so it stays water tight for now and the replacement part is looking around $50-60. I noticed the metallized reflector showing signs of melting on some of the bulbs too. Overall, this is a crappy made piece.

I replaced the whole assembly long ago with LED bulbs. I think around $30.00 on eBay.

Yeah don't you just love light assemblies that weld the bulb sockets to the lens, or plastic tabs that crumble when you pull screws out. Ford at its' best and crap part made to wear out ahead of time to make you buy another way overpriced part.

What's a manufacturer to do? The engines and transmissions are lasting way too long now. They have to put built in obsolescence somewhere...
