Cosworth CAI for 2003/2004 2.3

Will the Cosworth CAI for the 2003/2004 2.3L Duratec fit both manual and automatic transmission applications?

Yes. Transmission type is irrelevant with CAIs.

The basis for the question is due to "CARB" listing two different part numbers as being approved for the 2003/2004 2.3L with the only difference being one part number is listed for manual transmissions and one part number is listed for automatic transmissions. Can anyone explain?

Wasn't this question already answered for you in the BST section? Carl is right.

My second question was in regard to why "CARB" lists two different approved Cosworth part numbers for the 2003/2004 2.3L Duratec.

"CARB" specifically lists one part number for an automatic transmission and one part number for a manual transmission, that was the reason for requesting an explanation.

The atx motor is set about a 1'' rearward & .05'' higher then a mtx car. You should be able to make them work w/ either trans.

The difference was the mount point as felix stated. One had a little bit longer mount bracket then the other. All you would need to do is install it, and drill a new hole to mount it.
