Dart - Major Value Added for 2014 (Plus Standard 2.4L)

Always thinking in the back of my mind what I'd replace the Focus with if I had to (stolen, totaled, whatever).

The Dart just moved a couple steps up the list. The 2.4L (184 hp, 171 ft-lb) just became standard on three trims (was just in the GT this year) for '14 and comes with the conventional 6-speed (not the dual clutch). Highway mpg for that engine is expected to be 35-36. Tons of standard features in each trim level.

Dart Limited, at $22,995, adds the 2.4 [also std in the lower SXT, don't know why it says "adds" here], a standard automatic, racetrack tail lamps, keyless entry/start, Nappa leather seats, heated front seats and steering wheel, power sunroof, 8.4-inch touch screen, navigation, dual-zone automatic temperature control, remote start, 10-way power driver seat, reconfigurable gauges, backup camera, LED interior lighting, garage door opener, heated power mirrors with lamps, fog lamps, and more.

That's a hell of a lot more content than my SEL which stickered for $23,080.

Hate to say it... But I'd never drive a Neon, no matter what name plate they put on it.

Compact Dodge's are time proven TERRIBLE cars.

Not even close, completely different engines. The current 2.4 Tigershark was developed with Mitsubishi and Hyundai. The first gen was only introduced in 2007 in several cars (NOT the PT Cruiser) and the second gen (with updated valvetrain and intakes) is only found in the Dart and upcoming Cherokee. It's a thoroughly modern engine.

Your PT came with the same engine introduced in the 1995 Sebring / Stratus.

*cough* *cough* SRT4 *cough*

I've always wanted an SRT4. They're a sweet car, and more than that, they always sound great. I'd love to get a S/C Dart, that would probably be hella fun. A S/C Dart vs a T/C Focus ST? Man. That's a good race.

Weird thing is... Where's Chevy? I loved my old Cavalier, hands down the most reliable car I've ever owned, but all of their offerings seem pretty underpowered. 1.4T seems to be the standard nowadays for them. *yawn*

...not to mention that the platform is more Fiat/Alpha Romeo-related than Chrysler-related, so a relationship to the Neon and PT Cruiser can't really be drawn there either.

SRT4 Neon was a great simple car. Sad that when Dodge brought it back in Caliber form they bombed it!
I was big on building the SRT4 Neons when they were new.

THIS. It seems to me like no one is making these anymore. I WANT the base model with the ballsiest engine you have and foglights. That's it. I dont care about fancy electronics and heated 17 way pivoting massager chairs with AC dehumidifier and rear heated leather cupholders to keep your kid's mochachino's at a toasty 80 degrees.

I dunno, maybe I'm weird.
