Sony 10 speaker system deck inputs.

Hey all,

I have not taken the car apart to get to the stereo, yet. Hadn't planned on it, but the crappy AM/FM reception I am getting with the stock antenna makes me want to swap it out.

I was wondering if anyone has seen the inputs on the Sony 10 speaker system deck? Does it have a standard antenna input jack or does it just have canbus connectors that plug in?

Thanks,

Allen

My guess it has the Chrysler style connector for the antenna, Ford switched to that design in 07. When I put in a kenwood nav system in my 07 F150 I had to use an adapter. Same thing in the 11 fusion I had when I swapped out the radio in it.

Here is the adapter I used

http://www.installer.com/item/displa...php?it=40-CR10

They also make one that adapts an aftermarket antenna to the stock HU that uses the chrysler snap lock connector. It's # is 40-CR20

Thanks for the links. I'll have to pull it to be sure, I guess. No telling what kind of proprietary crap they can come up with next :)

can anyone find this TSB and put it on here? I'm Curious cause my 2013 I installed a Shorty aftermarket antenna like I have on all my fords since they redesigned the roof antenna in 2005 and my shorty antenna moves all over the base as if someone was using it as a joystick lol

This is all I could find:

5599 - 2011-2013 Multiple Vehicle Lines - Poor AM Reception
Some 2011-2013 Explorer / Fiesta, 2012-2013 Focus, 2013 Flex may exhibit poor AM radio reception with no FM or satellite reception concerns. Review Owner Guide, Entertainment System, Radio Reception Factors for a description of characteristi c radio reception influences. Follow Workshop Manual section 415-00, pin point t est "A" to diagnose AM reception concerns. Service inventories have been updated with a revised antenna assembly (18936). Use existing service labor operations for antenna diagnostics and replacement.

This states, poor AM reception, but it looks like they install a revised antenna assembly as well, which might help your problem.

No offense to you dyno, but the way these forums are set up is retarded. This is a specific MK3 question, why does it get moved to here, where I bet 2% of the MK3 crowd even looks? Why don't we have the forums more sectioned out? Like an MK3 Audio section?

I'm out of warranty, so I asked Andy from Village Ford about the updated parts which solve the static issue. Here's what I bought:

AERIAL WITHOUT CABLE
Part #:BA8Z18813A $15.44

STANCHION - RADIO ANTENNA
Part #:CP9Z18936C. $38.98

Hope this helps someone...
