2012 transmission shudder

Looks like this has been discussed before but I'm not really getting a reason why it's happening... I found a thread with over 200 pages and don't have time to read through it...

This is a 2012 with 25,000kms and it's still shuddering back from take off and shifting harsh from 1-2. Dealer told my mother (it's her car) that it's normal and it's because they used 2 manual transmission and stuck them together with an electronic module to make it automatic. They said she needs to change her driving habits...

Anyway I drove it and there's no way people buy this and take "normal" for an answer.

I read the clutches get smoother after a while but 25,000kms?!?! They told her they "reset the computer" and she says it's a little bit better... but it still feels like when you learn to drive manual with a 1L 3 cylinder Firefly and still haven't quite found the friction point.

Is there a fix for this?

I'll ask her for the info.

The thing I forgot to mention is that my mother needed her car to be adapted to have throttle and brake be hand controlled since she's handicapped. She can't just trade in the car because the fee to get the equipment removed and added to another car is a couple thousand...

My wife's had the same problem at 5,000 miles. We took it in and asked to have the modules flashed with the latest firmware. It was done for free and it solved the shuddering.

My 2012 Focus is currently at the dealer for the same issue. It started shuttering when I get in heavy stop n go traffic and it gets worse the more I'm in it.

Got 40,000 miles and this started around 25-30,000 miles.

Hi Woodieshi,

I'd like to loop in your regional customer service manager to assist. Please send me a PM with your full name, best daytime contact phone number, VIN, and servicing dealership; I'll do the rest.

Todd
