Duratec vs. Zetec poll

- Both engines are pretty darn reliable.

- the Zetec looks better.

- The Duratec has more power.

Overall, what is the better engine in your opinion?

I have owned both and love both. I believe the Duratec responds better to bolt ons and such. In the other hand, I think the zetec is very hard core engine and you can push it harder than the Dtec. Just my guessin'

I had a Zetec don't get me wronge that motor was a stronge motor I had put on over 100,000 miles with out any major problems other than a Altinator, and a couple transmissions but that was mainly my fault Shifting to hard and I had a bigger stereo in it witch is not good for a Stock Altinator.

The Duratec feels like another Stronge motor but I only have 15,000 miles on it. The dura does feel like it responds better to bolt ons than the Zetec did though to.

Duratec - Timing chain instead of a timing belt.

i have both 05 ZX3, and a 02 SVT. As much as i like the SVT's zetec varient,
the duratec is better in almost everyway. It's more efficient, lighter, has a better flowing
head design, and has more power potential. Also it benifits from good aftermarket
support from Focussport and Cosworth. And like Brindfan mentions, timing chain>belt
