2012 Hatchback: ideas please

Looking for a good place to hide a spare key on my FOCUS

1 I usually just tape the spare key on a wire, but have not seen any logical place to do that EXCEPT on the passenger side rear on what appears to be the FUEL LINE OR FUEL VENT that runs down beside the coil spring. It is not a hot line or apparently one that flexes and has sufficient clearance on the MUFFLER. I could easily take a key there and it would be secure and not easy to spot, but easy to get to in an emergency.

2 The end of the rear bumper is open on both sides and it appears I could use a magnetic box for that storage, but not sure if the LONG key will fit one or how stable those are.

Those sound like your best options, other than doing what I did.

I got a magnetic key box and put it in the side skirt. It is a great place where no one will look.

key?

Guess your big key fit in a magnetic box OK.Have you shortened it- does it have the chip inside?

Just where exactly is this side skirt? My idea about the under side in back is OK with me, but I"d like to hear more ideas.

So is this an aftermkt key pad? Easy to install? Do you then keep a key hidden inside?

That's actually a Ford Accessories keypad, and yes to the other two.

Buy a genuine Ford keypad off ebay and put the key inside the car.
Since the rear windows don't go all the way down, I put mine at the top of the rear window. Put it on a year ago and it's worked great. Just follow the included instructions to program it.

I use the keypad and it lets me hide a key in the trunk area. It's great anytime you want to leave your regular key in the car also.
I looked into the BOYO apass thingy but its hard wired and I'd need to have it installed by a pro. The above one is what I use.
