Last weekend I was able to pick up this 2000 Intake Manifold from the junk yard for $25. It was really not that much to pull it off, though it's nice in the junk yard when you don't have to worry about breaking things.

I can see the difference in design, though I used a few calculators online and now I know why there have been mixed results with this on near-stock engines. The engine really only requires ~180 cfm at 6500rpm and since the stock zetec drops off around 5300 where it needs less flow than that, there's not much to be gained. The stock 01-up manifold flows exactly what the engine needs

and a ported 2000 IM only opens up more potential if you can get the rest of the system there.

Regardless of this, I'll be installing this on my car at some point before long. I'm thinking of a little porting, and I've got a dremel ready to go. I don't have a 65mm tb yet but I'll get one and port match it eventually. The area I'm concerned about is the inside of where the fuel injectors sit:









I know this sticks down into the runner because of how they molded this and all, but there's an edge of the plastic that I'd like to remove. The heads have ports shaped for this, and I can imagine how it all goes together on the car, but I think I'm gonna take off some of the unnecessary plastic where the injector shape is molded into the runner.

As bad as I want to do this whole thing this weekend, I'm gonna wait another week or two. When I was taking it off, that one stud near the alternator did end up being an ass, and even with one alternator bolt removed and the alternator rotated I still had to bend the stud up a bunch with screwdrivers and pliers. When I put it on mine, there's a distinct possibility I take a hack saw to that unnecessarily long stud and make things a lot easier. Will update once I dremel this some and get it cleaned up.

Nice job, mine was a similar situation, except it had been totaled via a front end collision. Bought it for a mere $1200 took another 1200 to get it road worthy. It's good you decided to save your car and use existing junkyarD parts!!!

Thanks for all the likes everyone. Let's see how many people cringe at what I did this weekend.

The other week I was in fairfax to go to micro center for some computer parts, and on the way I found out the pep boys there carried some of the plastidip effects. I ordered a can of the gold metalizer and the glossifier on the way and picked it up there. I wish they'd have had the silver, when I got there they only had gold, but I'm satisfied. This really didn't turn out exactly how I'd imagined, but the best part about dip is that I can always redo it. The wheel I got a good close up of is the one where my center cap is shitty and broken and I screwed up putting it on while it was still wet. Let me know what you think.

Looks different for sure.
I'd recommend running a blade around the Ford emblems and peeling the dip off.
