HOW TO: Installing an Autoloc WC1000 for One Touch Up/Down Base and SE

The originally discussion thread is located here:

http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=318599

I do have some pictures in there, but wanted to make a proper HOW TO.

The S and SE models only have one touch DOWN on the drivers side window. By using an autoloc module, you can add one touch UP/DOWN to each window.

I am only going to show how to install this in the passenger side front, since that is all I have done so far. But all the other windows should be the same, just double check your wires before making a connection, the drivers side front and back appear to use different wire colors. As whenever working with anything electrical in your car, it is always wise to disconnect the negative side of the battery first.

Here is the autoloc module:

You will need ONE module for each window you want one touch UP/DOWN in. By installing a module in any door, you will get the one touch UP/DOWN from that door switch, as well as the driver side switches.

One thing I first noticed is that the PCB inside the plastic housing rattled around. There was a slight gap between the PCB and the housing. I didn't want to add more rattles to my car than I already had, so I cut out a piece of the cardboard box the autoloc came in and used that as a shim under the PCB. That fixed any rattle issues.

Now you need to remove the plastic trim piece from the door. I stole this picture from another thread:

You must start prying at the front end (indicated by an arrow). Just because of how it sits in the door. The rear end is inserted into the door at an angle which prevents it from being pryed. One that is removed, the window switch/door handle thing just pops out.

Here is the wiring diagram for the FRONT PASSENGER window switch:

ALWAYS double check your wires with a volt meter. According to the diagram, the wires we want look like this:

Brown/Green Pin 1 - UP
White/Violet Pin 7 - Down

Brown/Green Pin 2 - 12V
Black - Ground

You are going to have to cut away some of the factory shrink wrap to get to the wires.

After double checking the wires with a volt meter, you are going to want to follow the Autoloc directions to splice the module in between the UP and DOWN wires. Then connect POWER and GROUND.

PLEASE NOTE the Autoloc instructions tell you NOT to use the window switch power and ground wires, but to run a wire from a fuse box/or battery terminal, and ground straight to the body. However, after looking at other forums of people installing these modules on other cars, a lot of people just splice into POWER and GROUND from the window switch without issues. I thought adding a POWER and GROUND just for this module, through into the door was overkill, so I spliced into the wires on the harness. Again, this is NOT the correct way as stated by the instructions, so if you do it that way, it's at your own risk.

When making your connections, obviously solder plus some heat shrink tubing would be your best bet. But I had some of these posi lock connectors handy:

I used those to tap in between the UP and DOWN wires, and then scotch locks to tap the POWER and GROUND.

One you make all your connections, you can plug the Autoloc module in and test to see if everything works. If you noticed in one of the pictures above, I didn't properly splice one of the wires together, you can see it hanging out of the posi lock. When I tested the module, I heard the relay click, but nothing happened. So after inspecting the wiring, I found and fixed that error, and tested again.

Then you can add electrical tape to any connections you want, and the module and wires fit perfectly inside the door. Put everything back together, and you are done.

A few notes: Once the module is installed, the window will have one touch UP and DOWN. As soon as you touch the button, it will automatically roll all the way up or down, unless you click the button again to stop it. You can no longer "hold" the button and then let it go where you want the window to stop. Some people may not like that, so I did find a module on ebay that disables the one touch if you hold the switch more than half a second.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIVERSAL-AU...02c78f&vxp=mtr

I did not order this module, and the wiring will most likely be different on the module itself, so if you are going to order that specific module, please do not follow the directions posted here.

Here are some additional wiring diagrams for the driver side and back window to help anyone installing more than one module:

The autoloc modules retail for $50 I think, but you can search around. The first one I found was $35 new on ebay. I just bought another for $30.

Nice! For some reason I thought they were more than that. I may just keep a lookout, and jump on any good deals I see.

That's pretty good.

I haven't heard anything about this feature.

Outside of the vehicle, using your existing factory remote control, you just hold down the lock button to roll your window down.

If you look at my last picture of the module, those two white leads hanging can be spliced into your alarm system/keyless entry, so say after two pulses lock, all the windows roll up, or two pulses unlock, they roll down. However, that was more in-dept than I wanted to go.

Oh ok. I'm really interested in that. Gives me a lot more incentive to do this.
Thanks.
