Question Custom Stereo Bezel

Im just thinking outside the box here, but has anybody ever thought about making a custom bezel for an aftermarket head unit in the focus? I would like to add a nice head unit to my car but I cannot stand the Metra kit, the Chinese head units dont support Sirius, and from the little bit of research I have done it seems swapping to a MFT unit is going to be pretty impossible. I am several months away from going back home, but I might try to come up with something on my own (fiberglass maybe?) What does everybody think? Surely SOMEBODY has considered the idea before, I know I cant be alone here!

I stumbled upon that yesterday, and although that is really awesome it isnt what I am looking to do, nice job, though!

My biggest complaint on that kit is the stock screen, why keep it?

well.. the stock screen is part of the stock radio/Sirius/usb/bootoof..
removing it would be more of a hassle to view whats going on with
the stock radio/amp. there are aftermarket kits that remove the stock
radio (which sits behind the nexus). But the cost is not what I wanna pay.

I was going to get the Titanium model.. but I couldn't justify it due to
the cost diff and what I have invested in the nexus setup. And, the
nexus give me lots more flexibility over the stock mft/sony nav unit.

I understand that, but if I were to (like other members) add a double din HU that stock screen is absolutely useless. Before purchasing my FoFo I had my mind set on a new Mustang. Upon researching HU upgrades I found setups like the Metra that actually eliminate that screen, if somebody came out with something like that for the Focus I would be all over it, but that is why I am considering learning a new skill to make a custom one myself!

That looks like it will eliminate a few headaches for sure! Definitely might be looking into that when I get this project figured out!

Here is an idea, the MFT screen is an 8", why not get the faceplate from an MFT car and put in the Alpine INE-Z928HD, it's the only aftermarket HU with an 8" touch screen. It would require some fab work, but it would put the radio up high where the MFT is.

Where do you find all the play room for that? Because the screen and actual head unit are separate pieces which is how Ford managed to install the screen in such a tight space (correct me if I am wrong here).

I would think he is implying taking apart the aftermarket headunit,
and swapping it out with the mft screen. it would require lots of
work to pull it off.. but a completely factory look would be neato
and yes, with that kit I mentioned above, you could pull it off.
sounds like a weekend project for me (loooong weekend)
