Budget First Car

Here is my budget first project car. I've only done cosmetic repairs and touch ups so far. This car is all stock, but I just did a quick paint job to make her stand out. I removed both the FORD emblems from the front and back. Painted the grill and the stock rims. I also removed the Focus and ZX3 logos on the rear of the vehicle. Repaired all the minor scratches and dings I could find. Well here she is, what do you think I should do/add next?

Lookin great so far! I'd say upgrade your headlights, they make a world of difference in my opinion.

Welcome to the forums!!

Paint the mirrors and hatch trim piece. Maybe tint the tail lights and turn signals as well.

Alternatively, you could start saving up for big dollar items such as audio, wheels, performance, etc. Either way, your car is looking tasteful so far.

Put the Ford emblems back, you did that wrong. If you don't want a Ford logo, you'll have to smooth out the hatch and get a badgeless grille. After you put your emblems back do this: tint, wheels, drop.

Thanks for the input guys, I've been looking for a shop that will tint my windows at a decent rate. How much did you guys pay for the rear 3 windows to be tinted? Is $300 including tax and labour too much? As for audio, I have a sub enclorsure, amp and new deck just waiting on the right cables to arrive. Is it worth buying used head lights or should I buy them new? Is VHT Nightshades good for tinting my tail lights? Thanks again.

I'd probably upgrade to the SVT suspension. It's criminally cheap.

Personally, I'd suggest getting a set of used high quality headlights such as a set of Machs or ST170's.

As for nightshade, VHT works fine but it's best when applied heavily. I prefer lighter shading so what I use is a mixture of clearcoat with a little bit of black paint added. It requires the use of a spray gun but the results are much better than a rattle can tint.

I paid $180 for my whole car, with a windshield visor, It has 2 more windows than yours, so $300 is insane. There are some black housing SVT heads in the BST for $90.

Put the emblems back on, do NOT tint your lights because this is not 2002, tint , SVT wheels (any style) and lower it.

Good start though!
