Loss of power on long drive!

I've had my ST for about 6 weeks now and love it, no problems at all. Until... I came down to the beach this week (290 miles). About 200 miles into it, I dropped into 3rd to pass a car. I floored it, because its still new and I like to play with it 😃, and it didn't go! If I only press the accelerator a little, it's fine, if I mash it to the floor, it will speed up, but barely! NOTHING like its supposed to. And it was like thia the rest of the way down, even stopped and shut the engine off and restarted it. Any ideas?!! We've now been at the beach for two days and I've put about 30 miles on it since we've been here and it hasn't done it anymore, but now I'm concerned about it. Anybody else had this problem?

It's possible that you were experiencing the effect of heat soak on the performance, however I'm not so sure as when I did a driving practice day of several 20+ minute sessions the car seemed to stay strong and quick throughout, although the course was such that I could get up to fourth gear and ride fourth most of the way around. I know some of the other STs there were staying down in 3rd and redlining it on the back straight for a bit extra acceleration. But I would think that constant higher engine speed running would heat the car up more/ quicker than a 200 mile jaunt on the freeway, especially if most of it was in 6th gear until dropping down to pass.

It's not heat soak.
Take it to the dealer have them pull codes and ETC freeze frame sequence 1 data, and forward that to the helpline.

Hi Joshw,

Since you're concerned, swing by your dealership so they can check this out. They'll diagnose it and make some recommendations from there. I'd also like to bring this to the attention of your regional customer service manager. To get things started, send me a PM with your VIN, dealer, mileage, daytime phone number, and full name.

Crystal
