You got that right. I've never hit a deer but I've had plenty of them run out in front of me.

lmao at least that's one upside to having a lot of roads that are really just glorified cowpaths.

Did you get to keep the meat?

I almost got a cow in Wisconsin one night, driving a little 356 convertible. Probably would have hit it right in the knees and been crushed where I sat. Luckily for me, just by chance I was following a big bus, which got to the scene first. Very messy, but still a better outcome, and a good lesson for me. From then on, happening upon a cow in the middle of the highway became something I did expect, rather than not. That changed my habit to either follow something bigger than me when driving at night or go much slower than before. Less fun, but then how much fun could it be to hit a cow?

Not fun at all I'd imagine. Glad you didn't hit it. A few years ago someone in my area hit a horse that had unfortunately gotten loose on a State Route (55mph speed limit). I'd say they were pretty lucky to come out of it uninjured considering a horse can easily weigh 5x the weight of a large deer. The horse had to be put down of course and the car was definitely totaled.
