Transmission Issue

The Focus is acting up in overdrive. In between 30-35 MPH the car acts like it's slipping. It's almost as if it goes into neutral instead of slipping. Then it bangs into gear. If you turn overdrive off it shifts just fine. The first time it happened I immediately changed the fluid and filter. The fluid smelt normal and was a normal old color. It has happened again multiple times after the fluid/filter change, I of course checked the fluid. Good level, good smell, good color. I have my girlfriend driving with overdrive off to prevent it from happening.

Transmission has 150,000 miles on it. I recently had a professional shop do a complete engine rebuild after the valve dropped into the cylinder. This transmission issue started happening 6,000 miles after the rebuild. So I doubt that is the problem.

No CEL codes.

Ford Focus 2004 SOHC LX (F4EAT Trans)

Any ideas or common problems would be greatly appreciated. First time with a Ford transmission.
Thank you.

Funny thing is it is almost the exact same issue as the 4F27E transmission. Same feeling as the dis-engaging to neutral before the shift. Just no code throwing and I don't think their is a On/Off Shift solenoid (Solenoid A) in my transmission.

Hmmm...

so you are saying you don't have the 4f27e, but you used to? and you have the same problem with both transmissions?

Seems like too much of a coincidence to me. I don't know anything about the f4eat, but I would start looking at anything outside of the tranny that could affect the OD. Buttons, wires, etc... (that is, if I read your posts correctly)

Sorry for the confusion. I was trying to say the issue I am having is very similar to the issue people have with the 4F27E transmission. I have never had the transmission in the Focus. Just comparing the issue.

Yeah I will start with all the basics. I'm going to post a video after the weekend of what it does. I really don't want to take it into a professional.
