If I ever find a clean screaming yellow svt I will buy it no matter what it takes me. I don't know why I want one I just do!

That is the only meaning of obsolete that I intended.
Auto manufacturers are only required to have parts for 7 or 10 years( I forget which right now) and the more obscure cars seem to run out of OEM even sooner.

My brother had a SVT at the same time as I had my 2002 Passat. The Passat was pretty quick but the SVT was quicker. Top end was another story.

Because itsa an SVT and they are sweeeet only thing hard to find is the body parts rear brake caliper brackets and used to be the clutch line but now CFM has made a braided clutch line. I got a set of spare calipers + brackets off ebay F+R for only 50$

nothing else has been hard to find at all alot of the main parts are interchangeable all the way up til 2007 fofo......so really no issue until 2017 and beyond.

Get an SVT you wont regret it and for $4000-$7000 they are a steal

That is the unacknowledged background plan.
I assume I will find a SVT that I can't pass on, then it will be forced by inconvenience of juggling three cars to sell one.

What kills me is the little ZX3 is all fixed and perfect except faded rear bumper paint. The only thing wrong with it is it's plain Jane heritage.

I just need more parking so I can do a poor redneck version of Jay Leno's car collection.

Obviously the most reasonable plan.

I need to go work on a 15 year old car and break some brittle plastic clips and crunchy wiring insulation underhood, to remind myself what I lusting after.

Get an SVT! It's becoming even more rarity everyday. Not many people would sell SVT Focus for that much. Get it! If I were you, I'd buy it and sell the other car.

Haha, you and me both.

For some sick reason I miss the weird quirkiness of the SVT, that "we didn't have time to work the bugs out" feeling: the surging, lopey idle when it was cold, the clunky shifter feel, the pop-pop on deceleration.

I've always found myself drawn to cars that will be a you-know-what to maintain as they get older, because they were low-volume cars. I own one right now as a matter of fact (two, actually I guess).

Agreed, test ride one and fall in love. Parts are reasonably easy to find and damn worth the $.
