How to fix paint chips

Unfortunately the day has come that some @$$hole inconsiderately struck my car when opening his car door and made a pretty nice nick in the paint job. I want to take care of it asap to prevent any possible rust problems.

I have no experience with painting, priming etc, so just to warn you that I am a total noob. So try to be descriptive if you can. Is there a scratch remover product that does the job, and does anyone know how much a dealer typically asks for this type of work?

Take a pic of it so that everyone here can give you a better idea of the work.

In for this. I got pushed into the median (the floppy plastic things) and scratched up my paint pretty good.
