Radio swap?

Hey guys, I have the basic sync radio in my car, can you swap in the navigation head unit and every thing still function? I don't like the look of the stock radio and mainly just want navigation.

Edit: I think the buttons on the metro kit are hideous so I don't want that.

It won't be that simple. Besides the head, you would need the screen and trim as well...GPS antenna...and depending on how the head unit is set up since the Sony/MFT is a complete package...you may have some work to do on the speaker side as well depending on how that is set up with speaker harnesses, amp, etc. in other words if that unit is only designed to work thru the amp that is part of the package and different harnesses, it won't be a simple plug and play. These are just things that immediately come to mind to. There is prob even more to contend with.

I don't know why you would want factory nav tho. It's fairly unimpressive. It's slow, not much to look at, and requis travel link for traffic and what not. Only positive side is it seems easy to pick up update sd cards for about $60 vs several hundred for other factory nav units. I actually like my $150 garmin better then the nav in my focus. Graphics are better, it performs much faster, traffic via fm traffic receiver vs paid subscription, lifetime map updates, etc.

I like the stock look. Didn't want to use the metra dash kit and didn't really want another unit in the car, I know I'd need to swap over the faceplate/screen/unit, I could get the amp. But just was wondering if it would actually work, I know sync causes issues with our cars and swapping radios.
