Yes. That was fixed with a firmware update.

So..... could people reverting to early 2012 Titanium amps be subjecting themselves the possibility of having this problem?

Same exact speaker and sub arrangement minus the difference in having the center channel on top of the additional gauge cluster on the ST.

In theory yes but my car (mid 2011 build) has never done it.

In Ford speak, the amplifier is called the "DSP module".
It does have firmware because it does some level of signal processing.

I got the 2012 Ti amp I ordered off ebay today and swapped it into my ST. Sound difference is night and day. Best $35 I've spent in a long time.

This doesn't surprise me.

The person at Ford responsible for signing off on the MFT system (audio-wise, forget the bugs) must be highly incompetent.

My car does not have a proper volume control (a common complaint among MFT owners).
This is audio engineering 101.

Got the amp today and put it in. YES there is a very audible difference. Not only is the volume "louder" but the bass has more punch and just more fuller overall.
Volume never has to go over 50% and 20-25% is good for most situations.

Before I did this I went to the dealer and complained of the sound difference between my old Titanium and ST. They didn't care, said take it to service which did nothing as to them it sounds fine. In a sense that is true especially if you haven't heard the better sound.

So the two part numbers:
2012 Focus Hatchback Titanium: CT4T-18B849-AA (amp manf Feb '12)
2013 Focus ST : CT4T-18B849-AF (amp manf April '13)

I'm a happy camper now.
I would need a better decibel meter but I can confirm that the rev AA amplifier is at least 2x as loud per unit measurement on the volume control as my AE version is. Not sure if I like that or not, plus it seems to be potentially using the subwoofer as more of a full range speaker now.

It's a lot louder, but it kind of sounds muddier as well. I think it was better before personally.

At least it was only a cheap experiment so if I don't like it I can put it back easily and let someone else buy it off of me in the end.
