Hella dual tone air horn install in SVTF - done it?

I saw these for sale on BATINC and wondered if anyone had done this on their SVT.

Hella air horn item m313. $24.95

Is this a plug n play, or do I have to splice wires? Does it mount in the factory location or do I have to find a new one?

Thanks

Yeah, I found out...I found out it is a POS. You have to splice the wires, and apparently the quality of the horn is crappy. The sound is, from what I have heard, not much different than stock.

I am no longer interested in the horns....not when they sound like stock.

Luckily, I didn't buy them either. I talked to another guy on another Focus board, he put them on his car.

I buddy bought some Hella's for his WRX, about 2 years ago. They were LOUD as Hell. At first, they sounded like some European Oooooga car horn.. Then, after looking at the wire diagram, he noticed something different. Re0did some wiring.. and then.. "LOUDness"

I really liked the sound of the horn... but, maybe the ones for the Focus are a different model than the ones he got for hiw crappy WRX. (WRX Is gone.. totaled after 6 months of ownership).

I was thinking of buying the Hella dual air M312 from batinc while I am ordering some other things. My only interest is in the desire for it to be ridiculously loud and annoying. Anyone have experience with the M312?

Moving to "SVT Owner's Lounge", since I can't imagine a horn would be performance related.

BTW, if you want loud horns, get the ones that come with a compressor.
I had sets on both my Lancias.
They were LOUD as heck, and were actually the factory horns.
IIRC, they were made by FIAMM.
Actually, I think I saved a set. Might have to take a look.

I would be interested in some SUPER LOUD horns myself ... like Freight Train loud, something to get some attention when some dip wad pulls out in front of me LOL (which happens a LOT in Houston)

Well there's always WOLO, the makers of the famous "Dukes of Hazzard" Dixie horn. They sell a crapload of different horns, some nicer than others. There are sound samples available on the website but some of them are poor samples that can't be helping to sell any horns. These are not just the "musical" horns but various configurations of air horns as well, including the "train" horn.

If anyone has ever heard a real train horn up close and personal, you know they are LOUD AS HELL. I got the opportunity to play engineer as a teenager at a train museum that lets you drive the locomotive around the grounds, and the sound from inside the cab when you blow the horn is deafening.
