It was that or duck tape with lips etc on it.
Plus I'm sure the penguins added 10HP

You're welcome. And you're correct, penguin tape.

As dan50 stated, the bottom seems fine, it's only the left tube. There is a tiny gap on the right tube, but the rubber looks as if it holds it fine as it's tighter there.

Ran out of Penguin Tape or I would have. My niece decided to use up all the tape for little duck tape projects...

I'm going to do this.

Does anyone know where you can buy duct tape that looks like Band-Aid material?

As many prints as there are for duct tape, this is the closest I've seen ...

Crytstal has made her supervisor aware of this thread and will watch it to see if it gains traction. I suppose that means there's a microscopically small chance it could get to someone in Ford engineering if it looks like it helps others. So if you've tried this and it does (or does not) help, please respond in this thread. I suspect Ford needs more than a handful of supporters to take the suggestion seriously.

Thanks!

LOL - heaven forbid ford engineers waste 5 minutes and a foot of duct tape.

I did this at lunch today to take care of my very small gap, which was probably 1mm on one site to 3mm on the other. I will see if it does anything, although I doubt such a tight clearance to begin with will show much of a change.

Like everyone has been saying though, it's not going to hurt anything, so might as well do it.

Also, on a side note, I will check a friends 2012 sedan and see what theirs looks like gap wise, as well as do some taping

I'll drive it for 3 more days back and forth to work (19 miles each way) and report back.
Well, no such luck for me. I had the same lurching and shuddering. I'm thinking the clutch(es) is the source of my problem. My car's behavior is almost exactly like the descriptions in that thread.

Back to the dealer for the THIRD time...

Well, just an update with some data. I have been doing some logging after adding the tape, and it looks as if this has some merit. I will say two things first; I have a K&N drop in filter in my car, and have done the snorkel delete. I also fabbed up a "ram air" through the grill with a piece of plastic. Second, my "before log" is from a month ago, but I am only comparing the difference from ambient temperature, so this shouldn't make a difference.

I checked my previous log, and ambient temp was 26C, intake temp was 30C. This is after approx. 15 min's of "light city" driving, cursing at about 100Kph / 60Mph.

Today, after doing this mod, I recorded an ambient temp of 24C and an intake of 24-25C, under the same driving conditions.

So, some semi-scientific data on this mod / fix. As for SOTP feel about the whole thing, I can't notice too much of a difference, but I think there is some, if only a slight improvement. Also, my car is a 5 speed, so the DTC might exemplify the good and bad of the before / after more than mine does. Anyone else who is planning on doing this should try to do a before / after log to compare.
