Discoloring CF Hood

clear coat on my hood is showing signs of age again.

any recommendations on product to bring it back to life with products available at common retail?

last time i hit it with some rubbing compound on a buffer it lasted roughly a year or so.

Well you can always try to polish it again and see if it is saveable. Especially if it was a year ago when you last had it polished. If you take your car to a standard car wash or drive thru car wash it will put scratches in the paint which will make it appear dull. I can also tell because the photo of the sun on your hood and bumper is not clear and has a bunch of swirls. BTW nice looking car!

The paint overall is not in great shape.

But the hood is almost to the point that I can't stand to look at it

I was going to take it off tonight and buff it but my wife decided I'm going to my in laws instead.

Ugh

lol. Well can't help you with the in laws.

I used these products for my black Focus and it really brought back the shine. It only took me 14 Hours.

Polish Series V32, V34, V36, and V38

then Glaze

then Sealant

and finally a nice Wax.

I love this company and wont buy anything else anymore.

14 hours is easier to buy than find for me except I don't have the money to buy it either.

I can't put that much time into the rest of the car knowing I need some dents pulled and some fill in various locations.

I put maybe 2 hours in last time I did the hood. I will probably get at it tomorrow and hope it buffs out.. But unless I hear of another good product to use its going to be the mothers or turtle wax I already have on my shelf in the garage.

Without seeing the hood in person, I would try Meguiars M105 compound followed by M205 polish with a D/A. If that doesn't work then you pretty much need another gel coat.

Yeah, I don't blame you. Just make sure that you follow up with a polish; M105 is pretty aggressive and can give it a hazy appearance if not polished over.
