It's just my personal experience. They've replaced MyFordTouch (read: just to see if that was the issue -- nothing wrong with MFT otherwise) and the GPS system entirely and still can't figure out the issue. I'd just much rather spend $200 in a top-of-the-line Garmin than the GPS feature in the car in general, but the decision was even a tad easier because of what I've seen. Keep in mind that I'm coming to Ford from a lemon with Nissan, so I'm a tad pissed off to begin with on technical features breaking. ;)

If someone goes to a restaurant and has a horrible steak and then tells their friend about it, what's the chance that their friend is going to be bursting at the seams to eat there for dinner the next night?

As for the grumbles with MyFordTouch in general, I believe I've read that they've made a lot of adjustments between updates from the first/second issues. I wasn't immediately sold on MyFordTouch, but an easy question to ask yourself is: how long do you plan to keep this car? Is it worth the extra money to immediately have this feature readily available -- particularly if you plan to keep the car 5, 6, 7, 8 years? I think that's an easy way to kind of get at the real truth to your question. If not having to do much in terms of navigation and having it right there for you to access, perhaps getting GPS is a priority for you. For me, the push-start ignition was something I thought I could sacrifice -- very nearly ordered an SE -- but then I asked myself that question.

Let us know what your impressions are after the test drive on Monday! Be sure to take it up hills and throughout a parking lot/stop-and-go situation if you're able to. I was told that that's the best way to kind of really see the differences with DCT and also the situations that most seem to be frustrated with.

After my test drive, I don't understand why people are not happy with the DCT... it's actually a manual without a clutch.

Drives pretty smooth, adapts to your drive pretty quick I found (the seller let me push the car and jerk it and right after, drove it like a casual drive).

Has more power than my actual Cobalt.

So I'm going with a '13 focus TI hatchback with the only option the 17" inches wheels. He only has to find one in my color without leather seats (I can't stand leather).

I got to admit, after not looking for ford, I should have done it earlier. I test drived a Dart, a Civic, a Lancer, an Impreza and I don't think that for the price, none of them gets near the Focus.

Glad you enjoyed your drive! What color are you looking for? I hope they can find it for you without the leather.

Looking for Grey Sterling.

With the black housing of the lights and fogs, I'll give a small black shade tint to the windows (keeping it legal tho) to make it look like a little more classy

I have just purchase a 2013 Titanium 5 door, loaded, and the only thing that was on it that I would not have ordered was the 18" wheels and handling package. With the 17" wheels and tires you get all season tires with a much longer tire mileage or tread life warranty. The DCT is great. Hope that your ownership experience is good, so far it is a great little car and I as well looked at all the other available brands.

Hello all. First time on the forums. Just signed up to answer a few posts about the 2013 Focus.

I bought my 2013 Focus Titanium Dec of 2012. I love it except for the transmission. It has been frustrating and I know there are thousands of posts saying the same thing. I have all the bells and whistles except the Navigation and Parking feature. I don't need either of those. I love the handling package, 18" wheels, everything.

I recently took my car back to Ford to have them apply an update to the transmission in hopes that would fix the issues I am seeing. Sadly it doesn't appear to. If it wasn't for the fact that I love the looks and feel of the car so much I would look to offload it and get something else.

My previous car was the 1996 Escort that I purchased new and have driven until the possession of the focus. I still have the escort sitting in my drive with 250k miles on it. My son started out saying he wanted it and now he doesn't so now I need to get rid of it. It will hurt as it has been a family member for many many years.

Anyway, some of the issues I have experienced with my Focus is sluggish performance of the transmissions going up hills until it warms up. Whether I use the "manual" shift or full auto, shifting seems off. The manual shift takes about a second to switch gears after I tell it to shift up. In full auto there is about a 1.5 sec delay in acceleration once I press on the accelerator no matter if I am sitting still or already in motion.

Other things I have had issues with is the MyTouch screen. Sometimes it is unresponsive so I just use the manual controls. The rear backup camera settings get messed up so I have to reset them. These two things are minor quirks that I can live with. The tranny is a big one in my mind.

Overall, despite the transmission, I LOVE this car. I love its looks, I love it style, I love the features, and I loved the prices compared to comperable cars and I am happy I bought it. I will, however, never buy another car with that transmission.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello and add my two cents on the Focus

My 2012 Titanium has the DCT, MFT and Navi, so far I like them all. The mileage is outstanding. The average is 37.9 combined over 6 tanks. That's cheap transportation and it's fun to drive. A rare combination.
