Question About to pull the trigger on a 13 Focus

Hi everyone, first timer on FocusFanatics here!

I'm about to pull the trigger on a Focus TI '13 with the Titanium handling package and GPS. But before, I'd like some opinions and answers.

Is the Titanium handling worth it? Is the GPS worth it or I'm better with my Nexus 4 and Google Navigation?

Here in Quebec (Canada), we currently have 2 promotions: 0% financing over 60 ans 72 months and Ford Employes's Rebate. So 2 things that are pretty interesting.

My current car is a Chevy Cobalt LT 06. Distance to work is 80km (160 km daily). The road is mostly Highways, and my current car is doing 7.6L/100km (31MPG). I know that when I push my pedal rock-bottom, the car has power and can overtake pretty easy. How is the Focus compared to this?

How is MyFordTouch handling Android? How is MyFordTouch in general? Is it buggy as people say or a techsavvy guy will get the hang of it?

That's most of the question I think for now.

Thanks in advance guys!

Welcome!

I will reserve my opinions, because I have no first hand experience with any of that. I have an SE. I think the biggest question may be, what transmission does the car have?

Good luck!

Yeah sorry I forgot that detail.

I'm currently driving a Manual but I'm tired of traffic driving with a manual so I'm probably going with the AT (and also because my GF can't drive a stickshift and she will be driving the car too).

And since you have a SE, why did you pick that trim instead of the TI? Are the goodies not worth it?

I went from a 2008 cobalt 5 speed to a 2013 focus 5 speed. The focus has more power noticeably except below 2000 rpm where I feel the cobalt has more torque. I drive 100km a day with almost no city driving and I actually get better mileage from my cobalt even though the focus is rated better both highway and city. The MFT system in the focus is something that some people have had issues with, it's quirky. I don't have it. The only other thing is that the focus automatic doesn't drive like a conventional automatic.

What do you mean by quirky...? Like it's not a conventional system but when you get the hang of it, it's pretty good?

And how is it not driving like a conventional automatic? how does it drive? is it because of the dual clutch system?

For some people. The dct automatic behaves like someone who doesn't know how to drive a manual. Since there is no torque converter low speeds, parking lot speeds, are kinda jerky. The consensus seems to be that a good one stays good. Take a long test drive and if it acts funny or is annoying it won't get better.

I'm just remembering things I've read about MFT, I've never played with it, I'm sure someone else can explain better. I have driven one with the auto and didn't like it.

Wouldn't driving the car in Sport Mode while yourself controlling the gear could "fix it"?

And thanks again for the answer, I'll hope someone who has MFT will be able to answer.

From my expierience, no. I found it annoying even when controlling it. It doesn't always shift when you tell it to.

I think it's a preference thing

hmm Ok...

I'll see for it anyway next monday where I have my test-drive scheduled.

I just hope by then that someone will be able to clarify the few things that I need before pulling the trigger.
