MK3 Electric Exhaust Cutout?

So I want to delete the muffler, but I don't want it loud all the time.
I was planning on doing an electric cutout. The problem is I want it in the bend going into the muffler, and the exhaust shop said he couldn't put it there. He suggested deleting the rear resonator, and putting the cutout there. But I don't really want to do that.

Anyone attempted this?

I think I'm just going to chop the muffler off, and see if it's livable.. Cheapest rout for sure.

Yeah a lot of people have done the "lunchbox delete" and liked it.

I'm sure I'll like it. But my wife drives the car some... I'll probably never hear the end of it from her if it's annoying.
I guess I can always throw on a flowmaster or magnaflow later.

I know with mine, I got used to it after a few days and don't really notice it unless I am going uphill at 70+ or am really putting my foot down, but not during regular driving

I'm one of the others that did the delete and hated it. I never got used to it and ended up reattaching my OEM muffler a while after doing it. On the bright side, it's not an expensive repair if you don't grow to like it.
