Ping/knock after intake install.

Just put a k&n filter on my 2012. (Filter only) I've removed the air box and connected it directly onto the maf. Now under load at low rpms the motors starting to ping. Any thoughts?

Turbulence maybe? Personally I would either buy an intake kit or just drop a K&N in. I have a drop in and like it. I know a lot of people who "made" their own CAI and it ruined the drive ability of the car.

Possibly.. It is basically just a drop in with the top of the air box removed. How should I go about resetting the computer to set fuel trims? Could this be affecting it?

For some reason I thought you removed the entire box and put a cone filter to the maf. Sounds to me like you may need to clean the maf element with some maf spray cleaner. You could have some buildup on the sensor element causing the maf to read incorrectly. Also could be bad gas? I would try running some gas higher than regular to see if this helps correct the problem. How many miles are on your car?

It is a cone filter right on the maf, 21,000 kms.. Dunno conversion. Just filled it up to see if it made a diffrence.. Notta. I've only drivin maybe 10 miles since I put the intake on though.. So is that even enough time to learn?

The computer should retard the timing quickly enough so it stops happening. If I were you I would replace the stock air box until you can find a definitive answer. It would really suck to have detonation and crack a piston. Sounds like a dumb question but are you sure you connected all of the tubes and wires back correctly? Made sure all of the clamps are tight?

Nice, I had a few myself. I still have my 03 Cobra I bought new. I would seriously try these two things, A. take your positive battery cable off and then press the brake pedal a couple times and then wait for 10 minutes. This should reset your setting. B. buy some maf cleaner and clean the element but make sure to not touch it. Just use the pressure of the spray. Sometimes the filter will fall off and then the car will run like crap. I did that with my cobra once, and someone on these forums had it happen to them.
