Possibly buying 5 spoke SVT's

This will be the first set of wheels that I am going to buy, so I want some opinions. Seller is willing to balance them for me as he works at a shop. He did paint them over with Rustoleum wheel paint to cover up some rash. They are not perfect, but the price is very generous. Just looking for opinions on if you would buy them or not, any questions to ask prior to buying them, and how much you would pay for them. They have the tires on them, but he said they need to be replaced, maybe 25% tread on 2 of 'em, and the other 2 are bald. The center caps are wrapped with Vinyl. He's selling because he can't afford a new set of tires for them.

his asking price is a deal, look at some of the pricing here and you will agree. if the rash bugs you fix them and either repaint a color you like or get them powdercoated. just see if they are bent. but if you wanted five spokes jump on the deal before somebody else grabs them and flips them for more

This^^^^^^^^^^^^ You can also get them repaired also, which is no big deal to do.

Bent rims will be your most likely issue. 5-spokes are relatively soft wheels and are easy to bend. That said, I ran my 5-spokes with two bent wheels for about a year before upgrading. The only problem I had was a slight vibration through the steering wheel (kind of like a wheel out of balance but not as bad) and a thumping noise that could easily be drowned out by the radio.

I plan on painting them black - would it make sense to remove the paint currently on them, or just paint over it?

Best prep is to strip, sand, lay down a base, and paint....

Or get PC... Some places you can get a full set restored and PC for about 60/ wheel
