Certify the myth I heard? The side passenger mount is liquid filled and should look like a dome on top?

Forgot to mention along with the shimmy on acceleration i also have a vibration on deceleration when using the cruise control button to slow down that is akin to a rocking or jerking motion. This is why im zeroing in on the dog bone mount as the possible cause?.

From what Ive seen of it, the hydraulic fluid is located in the lower half of the rubber encapsulation of the mount and the top portion of the rubber encapsulation is close to flush with the engine side mount bracket.

>>>>>>I'd replace your dogbone w/ a VF engineering one or similar.

Does everyone recommend getting an oem one from the dealer as opposed to autozone or the likes?

I have to use the cruise control to slow down on mine. Otherwise, if I let the foot off of the gas, it will keep going the same speed.

I got the OEM brand because I've read from other threads to get OEM. But to be honest, the original ones on my car lasted no more than 50k miles, even though I did not replace them until about 130k. The worst one was the mount on the passenger side. The OEM ones aren't all that expensive either.

Just to chime in on this, I just bought a 2011 SES and the motor mount(s) have been replaced according to carfax. I notice a bit of vibration on start, but nothing when driving or idling in P or N. It's only got 31k on it so hopefully it's not an issue, but I have a warranty until 2019 so I think I'll be okay.

I purchased the following part numbers for my '08 automatic from Village Ford. I chose them because they are a supporting vendor that offers very competitive pricing for FF members that are registered with them (see the vendor section to see how to register with Village Ford):
  • 8S4Z7M121A HOUSING - TRANSMISSION EXTENSION
  • 5S4Z6038CB BRACKET - INSULATOR MOUNTING
  • 8S4Z6068A HOUSING

The motor mount in your pictures is the middle one and is the most expensive of the three. The casting on mine cracked which was the major cause of the vibration. The crack was probably the result of a minor fender bender that the car was involved in.

There is a mount that is located directly under the battery, and another one that is easily accessible from underneath the center of the car, it looks like a twisted dog bone.

All three mounts are fairly easy to replace with the help of a floor jack and block of wood pushing up from the bottom of the engine.

Hope that this helped,
-john
Which one of those part numbers is the one under the battery? I am having trouble figuring out passenger or driver side on fordparts.com. I plan on going with the CFM dogbone for the trans mount.

When you order the cfm dogbone, add to the order the vf engineering trans mount.
