Here is a picture of how my front is set up in order to achieve the picture in the initial post-

Edit: My car had the Ti Handling Package with the dynamic absorbers which do not fit on the swaybar mount. For vehicles that do not have the absorbers, you have an abs bracket that will mount up so that you don't have to use the zip-tie.

UPDATE:

I spoke with Austin, V-Maxx's well-spoken British importer from FL, yesterday about the issues that have been shared in this thread.

The conversation went really well and he listened to everything I had to share with him concerning our fitment and adjustment issues. He had been directed to this particular thread, via Mike at Rebel Devil Customs, and had read through it all. Austin did his homework and was well prepared for our conversation. This isn't to say that he had rebuttals or counter-arguments against anything I said; as I've stated he listened to every concern.

THE CONVO:

He informed me that the coilover setup was NOT designed for the Mk3 Focus, but instead for the Mk2 European setup. A customer, unwittingly discovered that the setup would work on the Mk3 and informed V-Maxx about it. V-Maxx looked into it and agreed that they were compatible with the European Mk3.

I am unclear as to the time-frame or when the decision was made that the coils would fit the US version, though it is Ford's "global car."

According to Austin's spec sheet there is indeed supposed to be 30-60mm of adjustability in the back and 30-70mm in the front. We've demonstrated via pictures and in actuality that this is not possible on the Mk3 Focus. Though the coils fit there is not cross-platform adjustability.

Austin speculated that there may be some different components in the Mk2 suspension and geometry that gives that platform the advertised adjustment. Different knuckle thickness, when after hearing him suggest it as a possibility, sounds plausible. The OEM struts fit the whole of the knuckle, meaning that the strut can be seen at the bottom of the knuckle, this is not the case with the coilover as it sits (guessing) a 1/2 or more from the bottom. His suggestion and my musing is completely speculation.

He agree that what we've shown and demonstrated the adjust or lack-there-of with this kit is not good nor ideal. He informed me that come Monday he is going to be contacting the techs and designers in the Netherlands about our discovery. He had me take some wheel bore to fender measurements for him to pass along.

BOTTOM LINE:

Austin, and by extension V-Maxx, understand that there are indeed some issues with the coilover setup as it stands and they will be looking into a solution for it. This was encouraging for me to hear from him and I hope it is for you as well. Ultimately only time will tell if V-Maxx stands by their product and offers a remedy for current owners (at no cost) and offers a (as Austin stated) Version 2 (V2) of this kit designed SPECIFICALLY for the Mk3 platform. I remember, and I cannot remember the context in which it was stated, that the team in the Netherlands wanted to get an Mk3 into their shop to take a look at things.

BONUS:

I mentioned that to even be close to getting any adjustment from the front of our cars, that the helper springs either had to stay in without the bearing or the bearing without the helpers. He stated that the helper springs could be removed and that we should be running the setup with the bearing in place.

There had been some talk about the locking collar being removed and that it was potentially dangerous. Austin stated that as long the front was set at full low there was no danger in running the system sans locking collar. The locking collar must be in place if the front is going to be run at anything higher than full low. There is no danger with the locking collar removed at full low.

I think that about sums up the things that are pertinent to this discussion. Austin has Duane and my emails and said he'd stay in contact with both of us concerning any developments with this issue.

Boom.

Ill rep when I get to a pc :)
If they were to remove all our current ones would be amazing, as I did buy mine being sold as MK3 focus coilovers.

Regards,
Vince

This is great news!! Like I've said, for the price of these coilovers, they ride very well, but I always had the feeling that these were not for our MK3's. Hearing the news from VMaxx that they might be making a V2 model for our cars is exciting, especially if we (people currently running V1's) will be able to swap out at no charge. I hope this all works out and I'll be keeping an eye on this thread in the future!

V-Maxx Coils- Install and Thoughts

Here are some pictures that I took as I dug into my suspension again. I went back in in order to remove the locking collar and eek a couple more millimeters of low out of the suspension.

Here's a pic of the front coilover that shows where the FSB link connection. You can see that it is welded into the bottom of the coils. It appears as though there is about 2mm or more of usable thread below where the weld is.

This picture is of the BACK of that same link mount. The medal, shown with the red arrow, is the OEM bracket that the ABS line connects to the OEM strut. You can see that it is well above the mount and because of that there is another 2mm or so lost in adjustability.

Here is the front view showing the holes aligned and how much coil is left that can't be used if the OEM bracket is left on or not modified.

This is the bottom of the knuckle. The silver is the bottom of the coil. You can see that it is not flush with the bottom of the knuckle. There is no danger in this, but it makes me wonder if the knuckle on the Mk2 (Euro) is shorter and therefore the car can go lower. My earlier guesstiment of 1/2" was about right. There is perhaps a little more than that.

Here are my measurements after I removed the front locking collar and modifying the ABS bracket. I didn't have a picture of it after like I thought. I'll take one on Wednesday when the wheels are off again. Basically I just cut the top of that bracket off so that it is below the mount on the coil. I level the rear by adjusting the RSB.
