Advice for a newbie

Just bought a 2003 SVT. Original owner ran over a large parking lot divider and ripped up the exhaust manifold and cat converter. Replaced with stock Zetec parts. My question are 1) Would this cause me to losse higher rpm reving(seems to dropoff around 5k RPM). and 2) Would these parts need to be bolted or welded on? Haven't had the chance to get under and have a good look yet.

Welcome to the forum

You need to get rid of the stock Zetec stuff and put some SVT stuff back on. The exhaust manifold or header is one of the reason why the SVT has the power it has. If the SVT header is worth 15whp on a stock zetec then you can be assured that your missing that much if not more hp with the horrible flowing stock zetec parts on there. That can account for the lack of power past 5k rpm. Then again you it could also be the intake manifold runner control not working but being that you know there is a non SVT exhaust parts on there I'd start there first. Nothing needs to be welded everything is bolt on. Check out the Buy, Sell, Trade area for people selling stock SVT stuff.

Wakwas check out the sticky threads HERE, Jason you should do the same. These threads have all the SVT info you could ever want to know

Thanks I'm going to look into the tune but if I also decide to do a supercharger or turbo you think I need to do any internal parts

It all depends on your power goals. The stock internals can handle up to 300whp on the SVT.

Then that's easily attainable without doing internals. Just make sure you have a good tune.
