Blowing fuses

My 2004 Ford Focus SVT Blows fuse number 27 for the high beams in the engine compartment I take it there's probably a short in the wire somewhere? I removed a 10 amp fuse the owners manuel said it needed a 15 amp so they had the wrong fuse in there in the first place but everytime I put one in well the two that I have put in as soon as you hit the high beams it blows.

Disconnect one light bulb see if fuse blows
if not then disconnect the other one and connect up the first bulb.
Come back and tell us the result

If you have a multimeter, you can probe the output side of the fuse slot to ground for ohms. Then disconnect a headlight and test, the other headlight and test....

If you are going to do it by popping fuses, start with both headlights unplugged.

If you have High Intensity Discharge Headlamps then all bets are off

The 2004 Ford Focus Wiring manual that I have shows fuse 27 to be 10 Amps
However IF your owner's manual indicates 15 Amps then I would be suspicious that you DO have those high intensity lamps

BTW that fuse Also goes to your cluster high beam light

Troubleshooting w/o a multimeter is like trying to do a mechanical repair w/o a wrench

Yes I have HID headlamps. whoever had it before me had a 10 amp fuse in there and it cycled about a dozen times before it blew then I looked in the owners manual and saw that it needed a 15 amp fuse but it would blew immediatly with the 15 amp fuse.
