Starting Gremlins in a 03 but atypical??

03 duratec having starting and electrical issues. turning key in morning wont engage starter. turning key back off and turning agian will start it. gages are intermitent. i read lots of entries on broken cylinders but this doesnt fit. could be the hatch wiring issue but why would that affect starting. guessing it may be the switch inline with key on opposite side, pn 98as 11752 af but dont see anything on it here. i cant get the part off rock auto making me guess that part doesnt fail often. Any guesses? going to see if napa has this part. not having blinkers is not fun (part of gage fail). thanks for the help.

More info
been reading the board noticed no issues at night or on rainy days. Points to bad ground. May be able to use water to figure which ground is bad. Anyone else use this approach to determining which ground is bad? I tightened the ffender well grounds already.
