Airbag or not to airbag?????

Hey guys and gals,
I need some advice. I recently purchased an EAP interior from venomrogue and am thrilled to have it. I was given a great price as the pass side seat airbag blew when he wrecked his orange beauty. I had the SVT red/ black interior which I replaced and it has the passenger airbag and sensor which are both still intact and according to the part numbers from Ford will work in the Recaro seat.

I hate the thought of skinning my red/ black SVT seat for the airbag but I have been looking for a used one for a couple of weeks now with no joy. A new airbag is over $300 which is more than I would ask for my SVT interior so there is the question.

Is it worthwhile to steal the airbag out of my SVT interior?

BTW depending on what I find out on here I could have an SVT interior available here in Fort Worth, probably not worth the cost to ship it. Perhaps part the old interior out?

In my experience, swapping '03 SVT seats into an '05 ST, the airbags are model year specific. Among other things, I had to replace the side airbags in the '03 seats with those from the '05 seats, in order to get the airbag light off, and the entire SRS to function. It wasn't terribly difficult to make the swap, just time consuming, but it may take more effort with the stiffer seat cover material of the Recaros. The airbag units are attached to the seat frame with two 8mm (I think) nuts. Of course, if the Recaros are the same model year as your current seats, you would only need to replace the blown airbag. You will love the Recaros.
I would not advise driving the car with an inoperable SRS for very longs, as you (or your passenger) risk greater injury in a crash, possible denial of an insurance claim, and issues with state inspection and/or other motor vehicle laws.
I can get you some pics of a disassembled seat, and give you more details of the process if you are interested.
