Techman what kind of pricing and financing did you get.
Well I got the generic "8-10 weeks" since the dealer had no idea, I'm hoping for 6 weeks. At least when it gets scheduled, I'll feel a bit better with a window sticker to look at :-P

Got it for a little over 34k after taxes/fees :-) paying cash. I spent 2 weeks shopping around for the best deal.

(and for the Americans reading that; yes, sadly its a good deal here)

Why would Ford make any changes to the DCT for the 2014 model year (what exactly is wrong with the current one)?

I'm saying that in reference to all of the problems that people report here about DCT issues. I know nothing about transmissions so what I said is pure speculation.

Another good choice for getting a manual, the DCT is awful, I totally dislike mine.

Just read this, not sure why Ford is stating this now hmmmm??

"Answering the demand of customers
migrating from higher-priced import brands,
the Focus Titanium model is available with a
manual transmission"

Hey, just wanted to follow up. With a bit of googling, I found that there are quite a few Dealer Ordered Focus STs that have already been scheduled. The earliest I found had a build date of July 12th (today!), so its clear they're building them the same time as the regular Focii

Those guys will probably get their cars before August hits (damn them!)

Now I just need them to get me a build date / VIN on mine :-D

... Looks much nicer than the flat black version sold by Ford Racing.
Those Rado Grey wheels would look really nice on an Ingot Silver ST -- I think I may have seen that somewhere before.

Congratulations jcw122 on your new car. The wait for it to arrive will be a real test of patience.

You may think all the work is behind you after making the decisions about make, model, style, color, picking a dealer, and negotiating the deal, etc. It's not over, yet. The day you pick it up is not just all fun, either.

I buy new cars infrequently enough that each time I have felt like noob when I go to pick them up because I tend to forget the best way to handle everything. Before the next one I planned to write some reminders for myself and, unless you're a pro at this, thought it might be useful to you for when yours arrives.

I started writing it all down here but it ended up being long enough to look like a serious thread hijack. Before posting it I thought I'd ask the OP (you) if you're interested or not.

If anyone knows of an existing thread where it would fit better I'll be happy to post it there, or send it to jcw122 as a PM, but others might find it useful in a public thread.

I'd be happy to hear your advice, and I especially appreciate the courtesy. This is a thread about new 2014 cars so hopefully anyone else ordering a 2014 (and picking it up) will be able to benefit too. I'd say write it out here, or a new thread whichever works for you and will benefit others the most.

A lot of people here are happy with their DCT so we must have a lot of delusional people in this forum, right?

I suppose that I can understand how someone might become completely irrational because their dealer refuses to service their new car properly.

+1, although I'd say another thread might be more valuable so more can benefit :-)
