Cold Air Intake Issue/MIL

Hey guys! Not sure if this has happened to anyone else yet or not, but last night as I was driving home my car was struggling to work through the gears and I had hardly any throttle response at all. I knew that it was not a dct issue and more of a MAF sensor problem so I pulled over and I noticed it would not hold an idle so I shut it off. At this point the CEL is NOT on.

I popped the hood and the filter was laying in the heat shield, so i tightened it down. When I started the car I let it idle for a few minutes to re-calibrate the MAF sensor but as soon as I drove away the MIL illuminated, but the car is driving with absolutely no problems. Has this issue happened to anyone yet?

I have not cleared or read the code because I was told by a friend that if the problem is fixed it will turn off by itself.. And I know what the problem was, and fixed it right away. Also read somewhere online that if you clear the code with a diagnostic tool it looks bad for future warranty work.

Yeah I'm hoping so.. But my lights still on. I just can't stand seeing the light..

I've not got to read the code yet because my friends are busy as its the 4th... But I don't want to ruin my warranty. If I take it to a dealership they're going to charge me for everything under the sun because its the KN part directly effecting something in the engine. I dunno if I should be worried or not.

If its K & N drop-in filter there should be no problems as they offer a full warranty.

And Ford isn't going to balk at a filter that replaces FoMoCo.

yes this is my issue.. It's the typhoon intake, not the drop in. I just don't want to clear the code then have a serious engine issue down the line then have them give me warranty issues about it. I simply clamped the filter back on and it runs awesome. But the light is still on and I'm stuck between a rock and hard place as to what I should do about it.

Most cars when you clear the computer, it is cleared, the dealer will never know its on... If im mistaken, someone will chime in... Besides all you have to tell them is the truth.. I put the new cold air intake on, and forgot to tighten it, and it kicked the light on..

Oh yeah, I wouldn't lie.. I was told that the computer can go on and see everything from driving habits to oil changes. This doesn't bother me, but simple do it your self repairs like this may give them an advantage to manipulate my wallet in the future.

I didn't run a diagnostics tool, but the light itself ran out. I'm going to call KN sometime soon to see if they have anything to offer me the help keep the filter on the lip. The filter attaches to the MAF sensor and there isn't much room for the filter to be clamped on.

It takes a bunch of key cycles for a light to clear itself. Gets annoying!

As for clearing the light affecting warranty. They'd never know. Just tell them the battery died and you got a boost or something like that if they even try to say anything
