08 Focus radio won't work after changing battery

I posted this under general, not sure where I should be asking! So sorry for double posting.
Last night we changed the battery in the 08 Focus and now the radio won't work. I called the dealership to see about a code, one has never heard of this happening and said there are no codes. I googled it and it says that there are codes. I called second dealership and they say it needs to be reset and they need to run diagnostics on it at $125/hr. I don't think I should have to pay that much to reset a freaking radio! Ya I am cheap I guess but feel seriously screwed by Ford on this. Honda just puts the code in the glove compartment. Ford guy told me to go drive a Honda! :)

One thread at a time please. http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/s...87#post3558087

Did you check the fuse?

And you have a American car now, people don't want to hear about Jap crap when you own a Ford.

I checked the fuses and they are all fine, everything works good just no radio.
The only reason I mentioned Honda to them is because they have never heard of a radio not working after changing the battery, and didn't know anything about codes, so I was explaining to them why I was asking about a code and where it could be found. This means one of two things, they don't know about their own cars (hard to believe) or they just like to charge for every little thing. I haven't had good experience with them, I got an oil change and they dripped oil on the belt, so the belt was squealing. I took it back to them to change the belt and they tried to nail me $750 for a water pump.

I guess they figure because I am a woman I don't know anything about cars. Granted I sure don't know much about the new computerized stuff, but I do know SOME things. What I don't know I google lol. Always need that second opinion. I know a few guys who buy and fix cars that have been in accidents, but they call me when it comes to stuff like setting the clock in the radios :) They can rebuild a car but not set the clock!

You got to just watch out, sometimes auto shops will defiantly try to take advantage of women, it's so wrong that they do, but they do.

Stay on this site and you will learn a lot, so hopefully next time you could call em out on it and say it don't cost $750 to take 1hr to change a water pump, And tell them exactly how it's done and ask them why it would cost $750.

I had the same problem. I disconnected the battery overnight, connected it the next morning and the radio has been working fine ever since (changed my battery in Nov 2013)

Radio codes are used in non USA market cars and this means Canada too.

One will hear about this issue in UK market cars
