02 Focus Wgn 2.0 Zetec : Irregular misfire at idle / Slight stumble on accel from stop.

My first posting here, so y'all correct me if I screw it up.

My Focus wagon has about 125 k on it, and up to just recently, has always performed fine.

This current issue is stumping me though. At idle only : it will occasionally hiccup, as if there was a misfire. If the A/C is on, the problem is exacerbated. If I pop it into neutral ( it has A/T ) and turn the A/C off, the idle usually is fine.
In addition to the above, I get a slight stumble when I accelerate from a dead stop, unless I am extremely easy on the throttle.

Both of the problems occur only at idle. At any other time, the performance is fine, and my fuel mileage still hovers in the mid 20's to over 30 mpg on the road.

There are no codes, and no pending codes, and the TPS sweeps look good. I cleaned the MAF, but to no avail.

Has anyone encountered a problem like this before ?

Thanks,

Chris

Look close at the PCV REAR hose that connects to bottom of intake manifold, common on these to bubblegum hose up to suck a hole that comes and goes. Right at manifold attachment and up to three inches off of it. Common to suck shut too. Can make your symptoms.

Thanks, amc49, but I already replaced the hose and valve a few months back. I did go out and double check it just now to see if I'd messed it up somehow, but nope.. the hose is all happy.

The other problems still remain. sigh
