About to make jump from Honda

Folks,

Currently own Civic Si but due to hip injury i cannot shift without pain. So thought no problem just get 2013 Civic. Rented one at Zipcar and on every level i thought it was a bore. Great car but boring and none of the steering feel of Si. Someone said try Focus. So i rented one at Zipcar and was thoroughly impressed with the steering. How did Ford make this electric steer feel so good? And this was the very basic Focus. The handling was superb and i loved the entire package.

So looking to purchase Titanium with sport package.

Anyway this will be my rare American car in decades of driving so how does this car hold up?

Thanks!

The auto trans and my ford touch are the biggest issues people have with the 2012+ focus. Lots of people find that the auto drives like someone who is just learning to drive manual.

What year is your Si? Have you thought about a transmission swap?

Not trying to steer you away from a Focus (I miss the crap out of mine), but if you enjoy your Si, it could be an option.

I had a focus for four years and now I have a civic si but everyone's pretty spot on about the trans. And it's not only the 2012+ that's the reason my 2007 isn't with us today

My 2013 Ti with sport handling package's tranny was just fine for about 95% (has it's few missed shifts here and there when it gets confused I know how to replicate them too) of it's operation in 8 months and 15000 miles. Of course you'd hear the complaints more than the nonissuers.

MFT has it's quirks but I'm a techie and have made it work the way I like.

I traded it for my new 2013 Lincoln MKZ and lol MLT (My Lincoln Touch) is basically the same with a few extra features specific to the car seems to actually work better with voice commands while someone else is speaking in the car. My Focus never recognized a command with other people talking in the car.

Just like a beginner manual driver, the auto got a lot better with experience.

The Focus Ti is great! My wife and I really enjoy our 2012 hatch (no issues). I would recommend you ensure the sport package gets you rear disc brakes - I've noticed Ford is trying to cut costs by doing rear drums on higher trim levels.
