USB Device

Anybody have any idea how to work your ipod when its attached to the usb. I can only cycle through songs randomly or in alphabetical order. There seems to be no way to access the song list on the ford screen. I want to be able to choose which song instead of having to keep cycling until I get to one I like.

If it matters I don't have the fancy myFordTouch, just the basic display system.

Use voice commands, such as "play song over the rainbow" and "play artist Elvis" and "play album...". also you can scroll through using the menu system, but it takes more time... in the 2012 manual 5th printing see page 89 for the voice commands, and page 91 for the menu tree if you don't want to use voice...
Note- I do not own any products made by apple, the above works for my Zune, and the manual says it will work with apple products.

Yes, this. I tried navigating the menu (using an old Sony MP3 walkman) and got frustrated. Tried the voice command and was blown away at it's awesomeness. The one thing I access in the menus is toggling the Shuffle. But with direct voice inputs you can tell it to play an artist or album or song specifically. I've been truly impressed by the voice recognition (including using the smartphone via it).

Here's a list of all the voice commands

http://support.ford.com/sync-technol...-by-voice-sync

I use the playlist command the most, and just keep it on shuffle. Works great for what I was used to with my Alpine stereo in my last vehicle that had integrated iPod controls (but lacked the voice command...which is awesome)
