The more than I think about it the more the Focus appeals to me. I'm going tomorrow to look at them and maybe make a deal.

Yeah you don't have to settle on it at that moment. If they don't give you the deal you want, go see if Honda or Toyota will.

The jury's still out on MY 2013 Job 2 DCT! It's better after a couple PCM/TCM reprograms but still slips through 1st gear.

Having had a Sentra, test-driven a Corolla and riding in many Civics, I would recommend an SE hatchback with the 201A pkg. Lots of extra touches to a great car. If for no other reason, I would get the 201A pkg JUST FOR the 4-wheel discs. I will NEVER buy another car with rear drums ever again. The last two rear-drum vehicles I owned went through front brakes prematurely.

Maybe I'm not as touchy as others, but I have a 2013 dct and not one complaint.... at all. I actually *gulp* kinda like it.

+1

I was in the same debate with what car to choose over a few months ago. This is what won me over. Also, the interior and exterior of the Focus is far superior to the Corolla and Civic.

In my scenario, I also had the FR-S/BR-Z in the mix but the wait time to get one (I could not acquire one immediately even with cash in hand), the difference in price (bought my Focus pre-owned w/ 16,191km for sub $23k), and the fiance's statement about practicality won me over . As much as I wanted RWD, fun to drive was all that mattered. And yes, a Focus DCT was VERY fun to drive.

don't take any 'deal' less than 20-25% off MSRP. any less and they're ripping you off. you should do your dealings online with the Internet Sales department. A good dealer will be straight shooters online and give you a rock bottom great offer right off the bat. That's how I got my Focus at 25% off MSRP. save time and a headache.

as far as i know, my focus has been amazing. I test drove the civic and if you want more interior noise go with the civic, it also has less power but u get the paddle shifters
if u want the corolla u get most of what the focus has but it loses out on the good looks of the focus, and ofc again less power

focus for me was my choice because i got a good deal, worked out the cheapest and had the best build quality + features i wanted and i liked the looks...

Very personal but imo go focus... i'm owning mine for about 4 months an love it.. so i know where ur coming from

this is unbiased ofc..

Please do yourself a favor and keep the wheeling/dealing separate from the looking/driving. Go drive it....then leave. Email the dealer back and 2 others and ask for their best out-the-door price including a full break-out (taxes, tags, fees, etc.) if you are interested. Do you homework online, you should be able to get at least invoice on the car - incentives. The Focus is great...6K on mine and no issues...but I got the manual!

So you'll consider a corolla or civic over a mazda?

Yea I would choose less options, less ride quality, less build quality too. Please go drive a mazda and educate yourself.

Oh, a Mazda is a nice car, it's the uncertainties in the company that I don't want to take on.
