Installing stock airbox

I just got a new factory airbox to replace the intake that came on my car. I see how its put together but I don't know where the screws go, etc.

Whoever put the one on my car half-assed it and the lower part of the orginial airbox is still there.

You will find it a lot easier to pull the front bumper cover off to get the oem filter out & reinstall another oem. I've heard of people removing then, but reinstalling a oem one? People install a sri or a cai in place of the oem filter box. You try breathing thru that.

That makes sense. I don't have a jack and had to squeeze under my bumper cover to get to it, and I only had a little room for the rachet. I could only loosen up one of the screws before the rachet didn't have enough room to click.

I got the new stock airbox for like 20 bucks, and the one that is on there now is making my check engine light come on. Its a cheap solution rather than putting a Steeda SRI or FSWERKS CAI on there. I just want that light off so if something else throws a code I'll know it instead of thinking "Oh its just on because of that intake."

Well its not really a new airbox, but its not my original one.

This YouTube video named "05-07 Ford Focus Air Filter Installation" may help.

All that just to get to the airbox? Who designed this car?

1) It's a lifetime filter, good for over 100,000 miles (or at least that's the claim).

2) It's a cold air intake so you have to run the plumbing to outside the engine compartment.

3) I would have preferred a cold air intake system with a conventional, easy to get to, air filter.

Good luck.
