Ordered wrong cold air intake

I told my friend to order me a cold air intake for my focus. Unfortuntately he clicked on the 2.0L not the 2.3L.
Do I have any chance of it working? I think the biggest problem will be how it's shaped or the mass air flow sensor hole. I'm no expert so help out friends

For the 2004 model depending on where you live you can either have the zetec or duratec engine. If you have the 2.3 then you have the duratec. If you bought the 2.0 intake by mistake then you might have bought the zetec one which will not fit.

Moved to Duratec Performance. You should find some good advice on a CAI in this forum. Thanks for posting!

Which 2.0l intake did he buy? The Zetec one or Duratec one? The Duratec 2.0 and 2.3 intakes are the same, but the Zetec one won't work at all.

I ordered the zetec. I'm pretty sure my engine is a duratec.
Why won't the zetec work on the duratec? Isn't the only difference the port for the mass air flow sensor?

Completely different engine layout. The intake on the Zetec is in the back of the engine, with the TB pointing up. On a Duratec, the intake is on the front of the engine, with the TB pointing sideways. Also, the Zetec's airbox is where our battery is. Its just 2 completely different piping. And they use two different MAFs

Now if you wanted to hack it apart, depending on which one you got, you could extensively modify it to work, but unless you know what you are doing, its best just to exchange it for the correct one.

I have a FSwerks CAI green filter with under 100 miles on it. It is basically new if you are interested. I had it on my 2005 2.3l st zx4.
