DRL install help request

Howdy everyone. I'm hoping you all can help me out. I picked up these:

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Excel...945187036.html

I'm trying to do an install, and the instructions all look easy enough, until I actually started doing the install. I pulled off the vent cover and found that there's some part sitting behind each piece that is blocking the LED's from being able to be put in.

Has anyone else installed these? And what did you do with them? Do I cut them out?

-Donovan

Can you simply remove it? Or trim it?

Physically I can cut it. I'm asking if that's my only option. And does it do anything?

There was a thread not long ago with the same question and I think the OP cut his.. I'm not entirely sure though, but a search might yield what you're looking for.

One thing I'm not liking is in the picture where they're showing the backside of it, look at the wiring to the connector and you can see the red/black wires exposed. I would maybe put some clear silicone to seal that up, since it's going to be pretty heavily exposed to elements, especially when driving in the rain. Would hate for them to stop working and you have to take them all off again.

EDIT: Here's the link that gatmog referenced, nice look'n out! http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/s...&highlight=drl

Found a thread that might be of use to you. Looks like cutting it is your only option without removing the entire bumper cover since it appears to run across the entire grille assembly.

Thank you everyone for replying. I ended up just trimming it with the Dremel till it fit nice and snugly. I figured it was there for support, so might as well support it as best as possible.

Now, if I can only figure out what this white wire goes to, I'd be good. :-/

Success!

Well, kinda. I think I have things figured out. The lights come on. But then, I think it's supposed to dim when the lights come on, but it's not. Gonna have to play with it in the morning.

I kinda like the "fangs"
