This clutch engages super high on everybody's MTX75 equipped MK3.

Unless the MK3 Focus is different, the MTX-75 does not use a pilot bearing, so that would not be an issue.

I would say that there is an issue with the tob in the OP's car.

Just an fyi, going to a cermamic clutch for more grip will cause the the tob to make noise faster because of the ceramic dust. Both of the clutches I have had in my Contour hve done the same thing.

As noted the MTX-75 does/can make alot of gear roll over noise. However I have not noted any in my MK3.

An aftermarket clutch that is design for high power will not last as long as a stock clutch. It just isn't designed to. But of couse how it is driven will make a difference.

For a DD with ocational spirited driving a factory clutch is just fine, imho, no need to upgrade.

I "misspoke" here--I meant to say at the time that I didn't think the problem was a throwout bearing. I will edit that to correct my mistake.

But, after re-reading the OP's statements, I would also concur that the TOB is likely an issue. He stated the it makes an "ungodly" noise when the clutch is disengaged in reverse ("put the clutch down" in his words). That would point to the TOB. If it is indeed the TOB, I wonder why it would only make that noise in reverse...

Good to know--I wasn't aware of that.

It's just the mere fact that when I bought the car it engaged lower and gradually started slipping as it aged. I ordered a new stock clutch to see if this problem can be solved and does anyone know of it can be adjusted?
