Getting rid of those dang dark spots for a new face gauge

Hello all.. I purchased a new face with leds for my 2002 Focus ZX3.. so far it looks sweet EXCEPT for the fact the these guys didn't clean out the leftover green residue (in truth, it's the white tacky glue film) from the oem face. SO, that said...what is the recommeded method/solution used to eliminate that without messing up/making the clear plastic opaque? Currently, these little spots are restricting light from properly shining through the face. BlackCat (where I purchased the face) recommends, at least gently scraping it off..at most, use a alcohol-based solvent (Isopropyl Alcohol) to rub off it off.

Can anyone going through this process give their 2cents on the most effective way of removing these spots without damaging the plastic?

Thanks

And while I'm at it... where can I obtain 'replacement pegs'? You know the three tiny stoppers that reside on the face (the small stoppers)- there's one missing.. I left the top open so that the other needles rest at "0"...

I used a razorblade to clean off all the green residue. You want that plastic to be clear before applying a new face to it. As far as needlestops, I would go to a pick & pull and grab them off another cluster.

Here is what mine looks like:

Pyro, that looks great! I'm changing the face altogether & some was left over on the plastic (w/ the motors). I'm at the autoshop now. I kept teading that rubbing alcohol helps *fingers crossed*...
Are those Contour needles? I'm using those as well. Wondering if you sanded off (or however it's done) the white strip from the bottom? I'm noticing it's not as bright as I thought..

Yeah, that's what I meant. A lil rubbing alcohol and a razor blaze on the clear plastic will help! If your new face doesn't have some type of adhesive, make sure to put a lil spray adhesive on the back of the face(avoid spraying adhesive on where the numbers are!

They're in there now. The new face has a white plastic backing but was recommended to not take it off. I will, however, apply a little adhesive around the corners before screwing the cluster back in to secure it in place.
The needles on your gauge: are those clear or with the white strip?
