Connecting rod bearings clearance to crankshaft 0.020-0.065,mains are the same.

the spec is allways different. u need plastigage to measure it. the crank u bought looks like for a zetec

Thanks popup. I have plasti gage just wasn't sure what it was supposed to be. What's weird is the factory service manual didn't list it - they just listed the cam journal clearances (unless I missed it but I read the spec pages about 3 times)

the bearings Rock Auto sent with the crank were damaged (stacked them too tight against each other and scratched them up pretty good) so I have to send the entire part (crank and bearings) back to them.

I have been busy at work so i am just getting back to things. Rockauto was great about replacing the crankshaft and bearings and I have started to reassemble the engine. I was able to get the woodruff key off the old shaft but am stumped about how to insert it into the new shaft? Any tips or success stories out there about how to best go about getting that little bugger in?

All ends well. It's back together, runs great and gets 36mpg
