TSB 13-6-10

Looking at the messages, it is pretty involved. Looking at the parts list for the TSB, it is several mounts and such that will need replacement. See below

13-6-10 BANG NOISE HEARD AND/OR BUMP FELT FROM FRONT OF VEHICLE DURING A QUICK 1-2 AND/OR 2-3 SHIFT - UNDER MODERATE TO AGGRESSIVE ACCELERATION

FORD: 2013 Focus


ISSUE:
Some 2013 Focus ST vehicles may exhibit a bang noise and/or bump felt from front of vehicle during a quick 1-2 and/or 2-3 shift under moderate to aggressive acceleration.

ACTION:
Perform the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 100-02.
Remove the lower air deflector by removing the three (3) fasteners. (Figure 1)
Remove the engine compartment splash shield by removing the eight (8) fasteners. (Figure 1)
Lower the vehicle.
Remove battery and battery tray. Refer to WSM, Section 414-01.
Position hydraulic floor jack with a wood block under transmission and raise only enough to support weight of transmission.
Do not attempt to lift the transmission or damage will occur.

Remove battery tray reinforcement by removing the four (4) fasteners. (Figure 2)

Remove and discard the center fastener securing the transmission support insulator and remove the insulator.
Install revised service transmission support insulator and torque new center fastener to 148 N-m (109 lb-ft).
Replace the clutch slave cylinder hydraulic tube with revised service part. (Figure 3 - Item 12)
Bleed the clutch system. Refer to WSM, Section 308-02, general procedures, 6 speed manual transmissions.
Remove floor jack.
Install battery tray reinforcement with the four (4) fasteners and torque to 48 N-m (35 lb-ft). (Figure 2)
Install battery and battery tray, refer to WSM, Section 414-01.
Replace engine mount with revised service part. Refer to WSM, Section 303-01B
If the three (3) engine mount studs loosen during engine mount removal, torque the three (3) engine mount studs to 17.5 N-m (13 lb-ft)

Replace roll restrictor with revised service part. Refer to WSM, Section 308-03.
When installing the engine compartment splash shield and lower air deflector, do not over tighten the fasteners or threads may be damaged.

I requested the parts be ordered by the dealer who looked at the car last week, should have a service appointment Wednesday if they have the parts to finish the car.

Kind of nervous about it, but hopefully Ford knew what it's doing to prevent the issue from reoccuring.

I will be happy if it does not allow the mount to smash into the subframe under all conditions.

Yeah the transmission mount is seemingly MIA, everything else is either at the dealer or enroute for tomorrow. Unfortunately that means the car won't be fixed yet.

I guess the only actual new part here is the transmission mount otherwise they should have had sufficient stock of parts available.

The roll restrictor is the E-Focus mount, and I'm not exactly sure where the PSMM is coming from or if it's just a new mount the same as the old one but not damaged by the rmm allowing the engine to smack back and forwards.

i knwo its a car under warranty, but first mod with these would be poly mounts. solves any and all possible bumping and banging. and can be done in teh driveway...

Precisely because it's under warranty, and for anyone wanting to have the mounts changed yet stay in stock condition for either autocross, or other reasons it would be best to give the manufacturer a chance to fix it first.

There are after market rear roll restrictors and passenger side engine mounts, but nothing at all for the transmission mount.

If Ford has fixed the issue without increasing NVH too much this would be desireable rather than the harsh vibrations of some of the higher durometer rear motor mounts (roll restrictors) especially combined with the Side mount.

Not everyone wants to tear into a brand new car and toss the warranty aside on those components or their related subsystems.

Now on a 6+ year old beater sure go right ahead and tear into it, but it's a brand new car for pete's sake.

polyurethane trans mount. people make it. poly drivers and passenger side engine mounts. no need for roll restrictor if it doesn't move.

ford had the idiocy to slap a standard ford focus trans mount in there. they didnt think to put something stiffer in there to compete with the added power.
also the vibes are hardly noticable after the mounts break in. only at idle can you feel it.
